We recently sat down with Edgars Kokins, Managing Director at Bolt, at FTT Embedded Finance & Super Apps. His role sits at the intersection of non-financial brands, technology, and financial services, highlighting the true potential of embedded finance.
With a strong global fintech background, Edgars is well placed to build and scale the financial services offering within the Bolt app. Operating across 50+ countries with millions of drivers, Bolt has a unique opportunity to deliver affordable, accessible, and much-needed financial products to a large and growing user base. As Edgars notes, drivers already use the app daily. It is where they earn and get paid, making it a natural entry point for financial services.
However, payments are just one part of the embedded finance story. Drivers may also need access to loans, insurance, remittances, cashback, and yield accounts. Edgars’ vision is to create a comprehensive financial hub for end users, an approach he believes delivers a compelling and differentiated value proposition.
Taking a global perspective, he highlights how the needs of drivers vary significantly by market. In some regions, access to banking is less of a challenge; in others, where cash remains dominant, enabling non-cash payments is critical. This underscores the broader role Bolt can play in advancing financial inclusion, empowering both drivers and, potentially, hundreds of millions of riders, with seamless, affordable financial services.
Ultimately, the power of a shared platform and engaged community is what makes embedded finance such a compelling opportunity.
